JOKE LANZ - turntables
MIKE MAJKOWSKI - double bass

A brand new duo with Mike Majkowski on double bass and Joke Lanz on turntables. Two exciting improvisers join forces for a thrilling expedition into unknown territory. Don't miss it!

Turntablist Joke Lanz creates autonomous sound-cells that melt into a language free of any function. He combines ritual reductionism with anarchistic playfulness, atmospheric soundscapes with cut-up noise and physicalness with unpredictability. Best known for his international acclaimed noise project 'Sudden Infant', he is presenting his work since 25 years all over the world. Born in Switzerland and currently operating out of Berlin, Joke Lanz is one of the most prolific and profound artists working in the border zones where performance and body art meet improvisation and noise. His activities in various solo and collective guises (for music groups, radio projects, theater and contemporary dance) have included Sudden Infant, Schimpfluch Gruppe, WAL, Catholic Boys In Heavy Leather, Tell, duos with Shelley Hirsch, Christian Weber, Christian Wolfarth, Jorge Sanchez-Chiong, Lasse Marhaug and countless others. He has released his works on some of the most prominent record labels in the noise underground (RRR, Blossoming Noise, Tochnit Aleph, Entr'acte, SSSM, Klanggalerie, Harbinger Sound, Some Bizarre, iDeal Records and many more).

Mike Majkowski is a double bassist / composer born in Sydney, Australia, 1983. He has been working in the fields of jazz, improvised, and composed music since 2001. He holds an active interest in developing, extending and refining technical possibilities for the double bass. Mike performs as a soloist, and with a number of collaborative projects which include duo with Jim Denley (Blip), trio with Chris Abrahams & James Waples (Roil), and duo with Morten J. Olsen (Bass Love III). He is based in Berlin.
